Sunny Portsmouth!

Yet another cracking weekend for the Animal Relentless Bike Tour; this time appearing at Gunwarf Quay, Portsmouth. Both Sam Pilgrim and Martyn Ashton were on riding duty at this spectacular venue. Saturday started with a bang because after three weeks at competitions Sam had a point to prove and the expectant crowds were treated to an aggressive display from the 18 year old wonder kid. Sam has been introducing new stuff each time he rides on the Tour and from this first show it was evident that Team boss Martyn would need to fight for the crowds support. Not to be out-done though, Martyn was flying and by midday on Saturday had found a run that could keep him in contention for bragging rights at the evening dinner.
Sunday was again very hot and both riders battled with exhaustion all day. These boys can handle it though and the final show of the weekend was something really special. Sam went for a huge run and pulled a ‘Tailwhip air’ on the quarter followed by a one-hand 360 in his next run. Martyn nailed a crazy line up onto the bars of the VW Transporter, he made it clean (just). Sam finished the event off with a massive No-hand Back Flip.
“It was awesome riding with Sam this weekend. I’m glad I’m not a fellow dirt jump competitor of Sam’s right now, he’s just kicking arse.”

Martyn takes the Bike Tour to Eastbourne Extreme.

The Animal Relentless Bike Tour rocked up to another stop this weekend; the venue was ‘Eastbourne Extreme’ event and headline rider Martyn Ashton (Team Ashton Diamondback) had some great shows. Unfortunately Sam Pilgrim our other Team Ashton Diamondback resident on the Bike Tour couldn’t attend as he is still in France kicking Ass in competitions. So it was down to Martyn alone to fly the Team Ashton Diamondback flag.
“The weather was great and we only had a bit of side wind to deal with so I was very happy about the conditions. The crowds were amazing too; such an enthusiastic reception always gets the adrenaline going and I think from the response that all enjoyed what we did. The Tour has gone from strength to strength and this partnership of Animal and Relentless is perfect. The Bike Tour Team are all working really hard to deliver great shows and keep the momentum going for the rest of the Tour. We are off to Sunny (hopefully) Gunwarf Quay, Portsmouth next; Gunwarf has always been a great stop for us so hopefully see you by the Animal store this coming weekend. I’m especially looking forward to Sam’s return for Portsmouth. He is killing it at all the comps at the moment and must be considered to be one of the top guys in the World right now; shows from Sam should not be missed.

Savage takes the UK National Title.

Only a week after securing the British Biketrial Championship, Team Ashton Diamondback rider Ben Savage has secured the UK National Championship as well. Ben rode to a strong all day in this fourth round of the five round series. A big crash on the first lap gave him a lot to do for the win and Ben nearly got back but a strong defence from James Hyland was too much. The second position was easily enough to capture the title as Ben has won every other round thus far. So with rounds to go in both UK Championships Ben Savage has already proved he is the undisputed No1. Congratulations Ben from all at Team Ashton Diamondback.

Sam Pilgrim Wins again at Roof an Slopestyle!

Team rider Sam Pilgrim yesterday clinched 1st place and won 6000euros in the Slopestyle comp at Roof an Slopestyle, France. Sam put in a very technical run that stood head and shoulders above his rivals in the contest. Beating riders like Cam McCaul, Darren Bearclaw and Chris Smith to the huge cash prize.
“Im so happy to of won this event, the guys here are all riders i look up too and admire; to get a win against them is great. I went with a technical run and the judges seemed to like it. I’m really chuffed.”

Sam Pilgrim Wins ‘Best Trick’ in Morsine, France

Sam Pilgrim proved once again that he’s the man in form for 2008 by winning a 1500 euro purse at the Avoriav Roof an Slopestyle event yesterday. The contest had some stiff competition for the 18 year old including MTB legend Darren ‘Bearclaw’ Bereclough. Sam was riding brilliant with runs that included no-handed Back Flips and Superman Backflips. The win was sealed when he pulled a Double Tailwhip!
Today (Tuesday) Sam competes in the Slopestyle event with 6000 euros up for grabs. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear news of how it went.

Team Ashton Diamondback takes elite 2008 British Biketrial Championship!

Team rider Ben Savage sealed the 2008 title this weekend by winning round three in Rochdale. This is quite a result for Ben; after wins in all three rounds so far Ben has a sufficient lead to take the title with a no-show in round four.

“The sections were quite easy today and I managed to complete the course with just a few silly dabs. I have been nursing a back injury for the last two weeks so started a little nervous of my level, I felt really good thoug and it was a comfortable victory today. Capturing the British title for Team Ashton Diamondback is a great way to repay the support I’ve received form them this year. I can now concentrate on the UK National Championships next week.”
Ben Savage.

“We are so stoked for Ben, he really deserves this championship! He is a great guy to have on the Team, always full of encouragement for his Team mates, goes about his role with true professionalism. As well as the british Biketrial Championship, Ben also has the UK National title up for grabs next weekend. At the moment he has to be feeling confidant about securing that title as well.”
Martyn Ashton.
