Team Ashton Diamondback takes elite 2008 British Biketrial Championship!

Team rider Ben Savage sealed the 2008 title this weekend by winning round three in Rochdale. This is quite a result for Ben; after wins in all three rounds so far Ben has a sufficient lead to take the title with a no-show in round four.

“The sections were quite easy today and I managed to complete the course with just a few silly dabs. I have been nursing a back injury for the last two weeks so started a little nervous of my level, I felt really good thoug and it was a comfortable victory today. Capturing the British title for Team Ashton Diamondback is a great way to repay the support I’ve received form them this year. I can now concentrate on the UK National Championships next week.”
Ben Savage.

“We are so stoked for Ben, he really deserves this championship! He is a great guy to have on the Team, always full of encouragement for his Team mates, goes about his role with true professionalism. As well as the british Biketrial Championship, Ben also has the UK National title up for grabs next weekend. At the moment he has to be feeling confidant about securing that title as well.”

T in the Park.

Team Ashton Diamondback rider Martyn Ashton has spent the weekend promoting Mountain Biking through his spectacular Bike Shows at the Scottish Music Festival ‘T in the Park’. The weather had looked as though it could dampen the event but thankfully it held out and ‘T’ turned out to be an unbelievable event for all who visited it.

“We always look forward to visiting Scotland each year; the crowds are always so supportive and positive about the Bike Tour. The Bike Tour was part of the ‘Relentless’ area of ‘T’ and we had a great time entertaining the huge crowds. There were also shows from FMX and BMX, so the area was full of adrenaline pumped action. I was really pleased with how I rode; the huge crowds at this event were insane. I guess the mix of bands, booze and action sports create a pretty good cocktail for fun.”

‘T in the Park’ for Team Ashton Diamondback

Team Rider/Manager Martyn Ashton will be appearing on the ‘Animal Relentless Bike Tour’ this coming weekend at the ‘T in The park’ music festival, Scotland. The festival has been voted best festival for the last two years and the line up of bands is absolutely amazing. We will be posting pictures from the event as soon as martyn gets back next week.
“I’m so excited about this event; Relentless have a huge extreme sports area that will accomodate the Bike Tour rig. There’s a huge Vert ramp next to our set up, along with the Relentless bar. This is sure to be one of the highlights of our 2008 tour. We have VIP passes for the entire weekend so hopefully I can get a glimpse into the world of being a rock star whilst I’m there.”

Weekend Update 30/6/08

It was an amazing weekend of results for all Team Ashton riders this weekend.
Ben Savage had round 2 of the British Biketrial Championships to contest and the UK no1 took top step on the podium yet again for Team Ashton Diamondback. Ben didn’t have it all his own way, a huge crash early on lap one left our man badly shaken and close to retirement? Fortunately Ben managed to battle back and a stunning second lap sealed victory.
Martyn Ashton was appearing on the Animal Relentless Bike Tour in Cheshire Oaks Motor Show. Martyn had a fantastic weekend with huge crowds at every show. Midway through Sunday it looked as though heavy rain would stop play but Martyn put in a fine display in the slippery conditions, the crowd who stuck it out in the downpour were treated to a very special show.
Sam Pilgrim was in Italy this weekend for the Red Bull Bike Night 2008. This unique contest Teams one MTB rider with a BMX rider who then compete against other Teams. Sam had an amazing night along with BMX Team mate (for the day) Alessandro Barbero. Sam’s Team got second overall, proving yet again that the young British talent is right in the mix at International level.

Just another ‘Working Weekend’ for Team Ashton

It’s been a busy weekend for Team Ashton Diamondback riders. As mentioned in previous news Ben Savage pulled out all the stops in Val di Sol, Italy when he qualified for both 20 and 26 elite World Trials Championship Finals. In both Finals Ben was well in the mix and claimed eighth place. The 26 final had a real feeling of ‘what might of been’ as Ben tied with 20 elite winner and was only 8 marks from a Bronze medal. A great achievement to get so close in both events, good job Ben.
Martyn Ashton and Sam Pilgrim spent the weekend with the Animal Relentless Bike Tour at the Goldcoast Oceanfest in Crowde. Weather battered the event all weekend but no matter how hard the weather tried it couldn’t stop our guys putting on an amazing show. Saturday was rain lashed and both Martyn and Sam kept the crowd gasping whilst they rode the luck in slippery conditions. Sunday was Sunny but the wind turned up a notch. Sam had to sit it out for safety reasons but Team Manager Martyn stepped up to the plate and took on the weather riding shows all day.
“The wind made riding the shows incredibly difficult but the audiance deserved some effort from us and we did all we could; this wind is simply to dangerous for the stuff Sam does but you can get away with more on the Trials bike. I pushed my luck in most shows but i’ve got away with it, so i’m happy. This event has a great atmosphere and you can’t help but get carried away and start to push your limits.”
Martyn Ashton
“I really enjoyed the wet shows, they had a real danger element to them, the crowd seemed to enjoy that. I think all the spectators appreciated that we put in the effort and didn’t quit in the tough conditions.”
